Let’s have a look on my soft skills

I put myself in the eyes of the user.

01.    / Visual Design

The visual representation of design work is something I am very passionate about. Throughout my experience, I developed skills in Figma, Adobe XD and Sketch.
This has helped me create interactive and high-fidelity prototypes that are in line with design systems. I also apply atomic design when creating user interfaces.

02.    / Empathy

I have always been fascinated by the psychology behind people's problems and behaviors. It was this particular interest that led me to pursue a career in UX rather than just UI.
I'm passionate about learning how good design can improve feelings, thoughts, and actions.
“People ignore design that ignores people” - Frank Chimero, Designer

03.    / User Research

Over time, I have done user research by applying design thinking process where the first stage is to gain empathic understanding of the problem you are trying to solve. User research is one of the best ways to do that. My most common method for conducting this kind of research is by interviewing people and observing them in situations where they will use my design.

design thinking

Design thinking is both ideology and a process.

I apply design thinking process to the majority of my UX design projects.
I believe that research and testing are key in delivering a sucessful product for the user.

Hi, I'm Vanessa

I'm from Lisbon, Portugal. I took a Bachelor's degree in Design, and recently moved to Montreal, Canada.

Learning fast is my thing. I like to ask questions when I'm not sure about something and that helps me understand the situation better.

I adapt very well to different scenarios because I am always willing to try new things.

As much I love to spend hours on figma designing, I also love to work in a team. Not only is it healthy to interact with others, I find it extremely helpful to receive feedback and share ideas with others.

Last but not least, I enjoy solving problems. What could be stressful for some people is usually not a concern for me since I know I will always find a solution.

Messages I received from people I crossed paths with.

Vanessa had a great eye for detail.

The designs were very well thought out. I would definitely recommend this designer to anyone looking for a creative edge.

Shehryar Bajwa, Developer

Keep up the good work.

“The visual design is excellent. You did a very good job (you did a great composition in colors, typography and illustrations). You also controlled the negative spaces very well; The interaction in the interactive prototype is also good.”

João Pinheiro, Professor

Vanessa is a great person to work with.

She is very helpful, appreciates the freelancer's expertise, open for suggestions, also an excellent designer. Either way, I strongly recommend her as a working partner or a client - it was a pleasure working with her!
